Tooth Extraction

A tooth extraction is the permanent removal of a tooth from its socket and may be done manually using forceps or surgically. We recommend extraction when the tooth cannot be saved with other treatments such as root canal treatment and to prevent infection from spreading to other areas of your mouth.

Pain, swelling, and bleeding may occur as a result of tooth extraction. You may also have difficulty opening your mouth.

Tooth extraction aftercare:

  • Keep cotton wool in place to control bleeding by forming a blood clot
  • Avoid smoking
  • Do not rinse your mouth within 24hours
  • Eat soft foods and drink lots of liquids
