Scale & Polish
Scale and polish is done in a series of steps to reduce the risk of gum disease or to stop it from worsening.
These are the steps done:
- The dentist will remove all the plaque and tartar deposits, the use of an ultrasound scraper is used to get rid of bulk tartar and the remaining tartar is scraped off by hand held instruments.
- Next the dentist will polish the teeth to smooth it out and to remove stains, to give your teeth its shine back.
- Finally the dentist will ask you to try and scale and polish your teeth on a regular basis to help maintain good oral hygiene.
