Dental bridges help fill the gap between your teeth, with one or more artificial teeth. A bridge is usually made of porcelain to blend with your natural teeth, but it can be made from gold as well.
There are 4 main types of dental bridges:
- Traditional: false tooth/teeth that is held in place by dental crowns, which are cemented onto each of the abutment teeth.
- Cantilever: false tooth/teeth that is held in place by dental crowns, which are cemented to only one abutment teeth.
- Maryland: uses two natural abutment teeth, one on each side of the gap and uses framework of either metal or porcelain, which gets bonded at the back of the abutment teeth.
- Implant-supported: uses dental implants instead of crowns and frameworks and is surgically placed for every missing tooth.
IMPORTANCE OF GETTING DENTAL BRIDGES:
- Reduces bite problems
- Helps with chewing difficulties
- Reduces pain caused from extra stress on your teeth and jaw
- Boosts your confidence and gives you your beautiful smile back.
